Where do I even start?
There is so much I can say about this movement. Greta Thunberg has been a huge inspiration to me, showing that teens can accomplish anything if they really try, and this movement has inspired so much change all around the world.
If you don't know what the heck I'm talking about, here's a quick summary.
Fridays For Future is a movement started by Swedish teen Greta Thunberg. It started when she began striking from school every Friday and sitting outside the Swedish Parliament building with a sign to protest climate inaction. It started with just her, but as of the global strike on Friday, September 20th, close to 4 million people went on strike outside their local government buildings.
I had the privilege of attending the September 20th strike along with around 300 people outside of City Hall in my home state, and I have to say, it was a life-changing experience. And I'm not just saying that to be corny or cliche; I truly mean it.
Standing in a crowd of like-minded people, using my voice to support something that I really believe in, and taking action to make a meaningful change in my community, was an experience like nothing else. I don't even know how to describe it.
I never really considered myself to be a super political person, but I support the whole Fridays for Future movement 100%. I plan to attend more protests in my area, and this experience has inspired me to continue to use my voice to promote change, in any way I can. Even though I'm a teen who can't yet vote, what Greta Thunberg has accomplished has shown that we can still do anything, as long as we put our minds to it.
